Unique Valentine’s Day Ideas For Deserving Moms and Dads
It is oh so easy to get caught
up in schedules and details of daily life when you’re a parent, but remembering
you are still a couple who can enjoy their private time together is essential.
As Valentine’s Day fast approaches it brings many over the top date or gift
ideas to the forefront, but who really needs all of that jazz when you’re in
love and your biggest gift is your life together? Besides what parent of a
young child really has time for all that. Last year my son was about 5 months
old around Valentine’s Day and my husband and I secretly made each other
Valentine’s Day cards, we put our little one to bed, ordered from our favorite
restaurant and just enjoyed the quite evening. It was wonderful and we enjoyed
every minute of it. Though, this year just to switch it up we will venture out
into the real world and have a low-key date night.
Here are some great tips to
celebrate your marriage:
If you have a reliable nanny
or sitter, make dinner plans to a restaurant of your choice either the day
before or after Valentine’s Day. What can be any less romantic than going to an
overcrowded, noisy, overpriced restaurant the day of?
Take the time to reflect on
your relationship and express your love to each other through handwritten
letters or through a sincere videotext or e-mail instead of buying cards.
Revisit the first place you
met or your old favorite date spot. The nostalgia will spark former feelings
and remind you of how far you’ve come as a couple and as parents.
Dress up a little. Putting a
nice outfit on can do wonders for how you feel about yourself.
Help each other out while
doing your daily routine at home. Such as, someone washes the dishes, while the
other person dries them. Even though you’re doing a boring activity the act of
being together and helping each other can be romantic and evoke good
conversation.
Don’t forget that out of all
of the people in the world you chose to be with each other and that’s pretty
flattering. Don’t forget the person you fell in love with.
